Jessica Sutta | A Pussycat Doll coming home to Miami Beach PRIDE!
by Armando Diaz

Ever since she emerged on to the world’s pop scene in
2003 with the Pussycat Dolls,  Jessica Sutta was singled
out, as the sweet and sexy glamour girl.  The thing is though,
she is just so much more than that.   Scanning the world of
music with a sharp sense of creativity, she prepared herself
for an inevitable solo career.  A goal she’s been working
towards all her life.  Among the South Florida native’s
previous incarnations are as a dance student at the Miami
City Ballet, a spot on the cheerleading squad for the Miami
Heat of which she became captain in 2001.  She’s had
acting roles in films such as Bad Boys II and From Justin To
Kelly  as well as the soap opera Ocean Ave.  She’s
appeared as a featured artist on Paul Van Dyk’s “Be With
You” and Erick Morillo’s “Pin Up Girl”.  She performed the
latter with Oxley and Murillo at the Ultra Music Festival.
Jessica granted us some time from her busy schedule
to discuss life, shoes, gays and her ambitions.

Jessica thank you so much for taking the time to answer a
few questions for us today, it's a privilege and we greatly
appreciate it!
Of course! Love doing this.

I'd like to first of all congratulate you on Sutta Pop!
Thanks! It's been a blast so far!

The first time I personally ever became aware of you was
way back in 2003, I saw you in the movie Bully....weren't
you Blonde in that?
I was! First movie I ever did.

What did you have for breakfast this morning?
A breakfast sandwich and a vanilla latte.

Now Sutta Pop is your first solo LP....what can we expect
on the record and who/what influenced you?
Fun dance pop music that you can get lost to.. I'm inspired
by Kylie Minogue and Madonna.

Tell us what was going through your mind when you learned
that you had earned your  first number one single, "Show Me", as a solo artist?

It was an amazing feeling. A definite sense of achievement. Made me realize that all the hard work and not giving up can make anything
possible.

There's a particularly favorite track of yours on the album called "Matador", it's pretty
intense... How does that track stand out for you personally?
It talks about a relationship that I was in.. Basically asking the man to stop tearing my heart out
of my chest..I'm sure a lot people can relate to a not so healthy relationship. They make you
stronger.. That's for sure.

With all this transition do you ever miss performing with the Pussycat Dolls?  Do you get to
see the other members much?
Of course I miss being on stage with the girls. Hopefully one day we can do it again. Yes! I
spoke to Mel, Ash and Kim just the other day.
I love them so much.

Finish the following sentence for me.....  I'd give anything to meet ____________.
Sarah Jessica Parker.

You're performing this year at the Palm Springs White Party as well as the Miami Beach
Gay Pride Festival... Tell us about your relationship with the gay community?

It's my favorite audience to perform for, And I am a huge gay activist. I believe we are on the
brink of a huge movement in equality and I plan to help by being the voice for the gays that
can't be heard.

How did you become involved with NOH8 and FCKH8 and how was your experience with
that?
I was bullied as a teenager so I felt a deep connection to be apart of that campaign. And luckily
all my friends are apart of it so thats how I got involved.

Do you have a favorite song right now (by another artist) that you've been listening to a lot in the last few days?
M83’s “Midnight City” is on repeat at the moment!

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes?  What are they?
My black leather Christian Louboutin heels. I thought I lost them and found them recently in my closet. They haven't left my feet, even when
I'm napping.
LOL

You're a Miami area native.... What passions do you have about your hometown?
The simplicity of where I grew up and the beaches.

When you're in Miami... What are the (3) things you absolutely have to do while you're in town?
See my grandma, swim in the ocean and go to Van Dyks on Lincoln Road and get my favorite salad.

What traits do you feel you have of a typical Taurus?
Honest, earthy and sweet with a dash of stubborn, in a good way of course!

I hear you'll be a guest judge on the next season of America's Next Top Model...how did this come about and what was it like working
with Tyra Banks?
It was super fun. Love Tyra. She's such a beautiful woman. And I really enjoyed working on Americas Next Top Model which by the way airs
April 4th.

What do you want most out of life?
Love, health and happiness.

What's  the one thing you want the world to know about Jessica Sutta?
I'm here to inspire, to be of service, make people happy and to I stand in love, always.
