CARE RESOURCE | Ensuring Patient and Staff Safety Before, During and After a Storm

Care Resource was an award recipient of the
Health Resources and Services Administration's
(HRSA) Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response
and Recovery Efforts (CARE) funding to strengthen
the health center's readiness to respond to the
needs of the community after future hurricanes or
other disasters.

This funding is being applied to further strengthen
the infrastructure at the Little Havana medical facility
located at 1901 S.W. 1st Street and the Fort
Lauderdale facility located at 871 West Oakland
Park Boulevard. This funding will also enhance
the soon-to-be-implemented Telehealth system
that will add remote access to services by allowing
clients to hold an appointment with their provider
remotely, especially when inclement weather
presents either a safety concern or a transportation

Care Resource demonstrated extraordinary resilience
in the immediate aftermath following Hurricane Irma
in 2017. Health centers like Care Resource serve as
lifelines to services and networks of resources in the
community every day, and especially during a crisis.
