IGNORANCE, INTOLERANCE AND HOMOPHOBIA IS KILLING OUR KIDS

How many more of our kids, brothers, sister, nephews granddaughters and sons must
take their own lives before we open our eyes to the horrible mental and physical
conditions that we subject youth - just for being or feeling different.

LGBT teen suicide is 4 times higher than hetero teen suicide.

This must stop.  This must stop now - for Justin, Seth, Asher, Tyler, Raymond and the
thousands of other kids that feel they are alone and have no other answer or hope.
Everyone is entitled to live, love, be loved and express themselves as they feel in their
own skin.

Scott Hall, founder & board president of the HEROES Project, said "Today YOU
Know...We need your help... Please... to fight Hate...with The Rainbow Memorial of Love!
Every day that the rainbow memorial is not built is another day a LGBT murder gets
forgotten... murderers run free and hate crime get over looked! How many more days
should we wait ... how many more must die? Sorry its just the TRUTH! Please...take a
moment to see the kids we lost ... and let there story be told to everyone you know... we
fight hate together ...or we die alone at the hands of hate! We need your help today...to
build the rainbow memorial...and to show the world these kids lives had value and that
bulling attacks and murders... Have To Stop! Its up to us to stop them! Really!"

RAYMOND CHASE
Raymond Chase, 19, who
reportedly hung himself in his
residence hall room this past
Wednesday, September 29, 2010
on the campus of Johnson &
Wales in Providence, RI.
“The loss of Raymond this week
is the second college LGBT-
related suicide in a week and the
fifth teenage LGBT suicide in
three weeks. The suicide of this
openly gay young man is for
reasons currently unknown;
however, the recent pattern of
LGBT youth suicides is cause for
grave concern,” said Shane
Windmeyer, executive director and
founder of Campus Pride.

“Campus Pride demands
national action be taken to
address youth bullying,
harassment and the need for
safety and inclusion for LGBT
youth at colleges and universities
across the country. We must not
let these tragic deaths go
unnoticed.  Together we must act
decisively to curb anti-LGBT bias
incidents, harassment and acts of
violence.”
.
"Five known suicides by LGBT teens in
under three weeks is simply a tragic
epidemic of failing resources and
inadequate solutions by our secondary
and post secondary school system"
said Stuart Milk, Founder of the Harvey
Milk Foundation. "The suicide
Wednesday of 19 year old Raymond
Chase in Rhode Island must be the last
wake up call... for our school
administrators to take action" Milk
added. The Harvey Milk Foundation,
CESCal and the American
Psychological Association are
presenting a groundbreaking
international conference to address
these issues. Pulling in additional
subject matter experts from the Family
Acceptance Project, GLESN, PFLAG,
Campus Pride, American Counseling Association, the Matthew Shepard Foundation
and proven International school innovators, “Solutions to a Crisis: Saving Lives,
Supporting Students” is an event that can do just that, save young lives but we need
school systems to send their staff - please get the word out!
